Gotham FC is moving to Queens.<\/p>\n

The reigning National Women\u2019s Soccer League<\/a><\/strong> champions have officially announced a move to Queens, New York City. They will call the brand new Etihad Park home in 2028. Etihad Park will also be home to Major League Soccer\u2019s New York City FC. <\/p>\n

Currently, Gotham FC features at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, New Jersey, which is home to the New York Red Bulls. Just last month, Gotham announced its first-ever women\u2019s soccer dedicated training facility<\/a>, which is scheduled for a summer 2027 completion.<\/p>\n

Etihad Park is going to be New York City\u2019s first soccer-specific stadium. Currently, New York City FC is the only New York City-based club, and they feature at Yankee Stadium (which also houses Major League Baseball\u2019s New York Yankees). According to a press release, the new Etihad Park will also host international soccer matches, including \u201cmen\u2019s and women\u2019s Olympic soccer matches in 2028.\u201d<\/p>\n

The venue\u2019s capacity will be at 25,000 fans. Gotham will have its own separate locker room from New York City FC, according to the club.<\/p>\n

New York City Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani said that Gotham FC has given fans \u201csome of the greatest moments in women\u2019s soccer.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNow the next electrifying chapter of that story will be written in New York City. Bringing Gotham FC to Queens means that the young girl kicking a ball around Jackson Heights, Jamaica or the South Bronx will be able to take the train and watch some of the best players in the world in her own city,\u201d Mamdani said. \u201cIt means more customers for neighborhood restaurants, more visitors filling our hotels and, most importantly, a permanent home for world-class women\u2019s soccer in the greatest city in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n
