Nasser Hussain said that the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) made the right call to remove Brendon McCullum as England National Cricket Team\u2019s Test coach. ECB\u2019s decision to sack McCullum came from nowhere on Sunday, July 12, as only a few weeks ago, the cricket board showed its support to him, even after losing the previous Ashes series<\/a> by 1-4.<\/p>\n

With Brendon McCullum as the head coach, the England cricket team developed a new way of batting in the Whites. Instead of keeping focus on defence, McCullum had encouraged the players to perform with the bat fearlessly.<\/p>\n

Overnight, ‘Bazball’ became a brand in Tests<\/h2>\n

\u2018Bazball\u2019 quickly became a household name over a short period of time. Nasser Hussain, former England captain, acknowledged that during the era of Brendon McCullum, the team played an exciting brand of cricket in the longest format of the game.<\/p>\n

The team gained some success at a distance as well as at the initial stage of \u2018Bazball\u2019, but it gradually led the team to multiple defeats. The 1-4 defeat against the arch-rival Australia put Brendon McCullum\u2019s job in danger early in the year. As the ECB supported him, the former New Zealand opener remained in power.<\/p>\n

Hussain stated in a video that it would be wrong to mention that the team started well with a refreshed vision of batting. In both home and away games, England claimed some clinical wins as well. But in the recent past, the method looked less effective as the team suffered multiple defeats in high-end contests.<\/p>\n

But in the end, in recent times, with the Ashes and losing, what, seven of their last nine Test matches and the manner of those defeats, I think it’s about the right time,\u201d the former skipper said to Sky Sports Cricket.<\/p>\n

\u201cI’m not sure it was the right thing for Rob Key to do, to give one person both the coaching of the white ball and Test side, and I think it’s the right thing now for Bender McCullum to concentrate on white ball cricket,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Brendon McCullum\u2019s stint as England\u2019s head coach in Tests came to an end with 27 wins, two draws, and 20 defeats, with seven of those losses coming in England’s last nine Test matches.<\/p>\n

The recent 2-1 defeat against New Zealand at home seems to be the last nail in the coffin. England was the favourite to win the 3-match Test series, but it was the visitors who took the title home. As soon as the series ended, Ben Stokes<\/a> announced his retirement from the format.<\/p>\n

England\u2019s Test team is currently without a captain and a head coach. ECB will have to find suitable replacements to fill the voids as early as possible<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
