Dallas Cowboys<\/a>\u00a0head coach Brian Schottenheimer<\/a> made it\u00a0<\/span>known<\/span><\/a>\u00a0that his Cowboys “plan” on playing in Super Bowl LXI this coming February.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n It sounds like quarterback Dak Prescott<\/a>\u00a0is among the Dallas players who are embracing a similar mindset amid the closing days of the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>NFL’s<\/span><\/span><\/a>\u00a0summer break.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n “That’s the one thing I love about the Cowboys nation and being a player of the Cowboys is, it’s Super Bowl or bust,” Prescott\u00a0recently said, as shared by\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>Tommy Yarrish<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a>\u00a0of the team’s website.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>“And truthfully, that’s the only reason you play this game. And so if that’s not your mindset, if that’s not your mindset as a fan, then to me, you don’t have the right passion. You’re not a true winner. So absolutely, we’re working every day for it\u2026”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n The Cowboys have been far more bust than Super Bowl over the past few decades, as Dallas<\/a> hasn’t made even an NFC Championship Game appearance since the club won the Super Bowl in January 1996. That said, the Cowboys made numerous offseason\u00a0<\/span>additions<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>to a defense that too often disappointed with its play during the 2025 campaign. It also seems<\/a> like Prescott will have dynamic wide receiver\u00a0<\/span>George Pickens<\/a> as a weapon through at least the start of the upcoming season, as Pickens is set to play on the franchise tag worth roughly $27.3M.\u00a0<\/p>\n “Shoot yeah, that’s what’s left for me,”\u00a0Prescott added about wanting to acquire a Super Bowl\u00a0ring, according to\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Grant Gordon<\/span><\/span><\/a>\u00a0of the NFL’s website.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>“And that’s always been my mindset, you know. That’s the one thing I truly love about the Cowboys organization and the fanbase is it’s that or nothing. That’s what being a competitor is, if that’s not how you’re wired, if that’s not how you think, whether you’re a fan, whether you’re a player, whether you’re a coach, then I think you’re in the wrong business, and, honestly, I don’t want you on my team. I love those expectations.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Prescott also insisted that the Cowboys have a realistic chance to be the last team standing in February.<\/p>\n “Obviously, each year you think that, but when you have last year as we did, the offense that we did, you make the changes and you’ve got a great defensive coordinator\u2026yeah, and us understanding what needs to be done,” Prescott explained.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n As Prescott referenced, the Cowboys\u00a0parted\u00a0ways<\/a>\u00a0with often-criticized defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus this past winter and eventually replaced him by\u00a0<\/span>hiring<\/a>\u00a0former Philadelphia Eagles\u00a0<\/span><\/a>defensive passing game coordinator and defensive backs coach Christian Parker. If Dallas’ defense can match the accomplishments of an offense that features the likes of Prescott, Pickens and others, the Cowboys could do more than simply participate in the next postseason tournament.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n As of Monday morning, DraftKings Sportsbook had the Cowboys as +2500 betting underdogs to win Super Bowl LXI.
