The coaches have been really helpful for me, and they\u2019ve kept me going and kept me humble along the way. Cricket, everything.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b>SOCCEROOS HERO LINKED TO GIANTS<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Australian World Cup captain Harry Souttar is a man in demand, with Premier League club West Ham leading the charge to secure his signature.<\/p>\n<p>The 27-year old defender was outstanding as the Socceroos secured passage through to the knockout stages of the tournament, with a penalty miss to begin the team\u2019s shootout loss to Egypt in the round of 32 his only blemish.<\/p>\n<p>Souttar signed a five-and-a-half-year contract with Leicester City reportedly worth up to \u00a320 million ($38 million) in January 2023.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"sc-11i7hbm-0 eUyOEq\"><amp-img alt=\"Harry Souttar reacts after missing his penalty against Egypt. (AP Photo\/Sam Hodde)<\/span><span>Source: AP<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>But the 2015\/16 Premier League champions\u2019 relegation to League One has him eagerly seeking a move, with the man mountain reportedly keen to continue playing at the highest level.<\/p>\n<p>Leicester themselves are said to be happy to move him on for financial reasons.<\/p>\n<p>Former club Stoke City, where Souttar played from 2016-2023 and currently compete in the EFL Championship, are among his other suitors, as are the Ryan Reynolds-owned Wrexham FC and Sheffield United.<\/p>\n<p>But the desire to play in the Premier League has the Hammers firmly sitting as frontrunners.<\/p>\n<p>The centre back has had a disastrous injury run in between starring performances at the 2022 and 2026 World Cups, rupturing his Achilles tendon in late 2024 while on loan to Sheffield, and only returning late in Leicester\u2019s 2025\/26 season.<\/p>\n<p>With Socceroos captain Mat Ryan benched for the majority of the World Cup, Souttar served as acting captain throughout, impressing with his leadership and calm head at the back.<\/p>\n<p><b>IRANKUNDA RUMOURS INTENSIFY<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Portuguese powerhouse Sporting Lisbon has been strongly linked to young Australian sensation Nestory Irankunda.<\/p>\n<p>The 20-year old, long seen as the next big thing in Australian football, impressed at his maiden World Cup, scoring in the Socceroos\u2019 2-0 win over Turkey.<\/p>\n<p>Irankunda is just one year into a five-year contract with EFL Championship club Watford, but things haven\u2019t always gone smoothly at the Hornets, with criticism mounting over his inconsistency.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"sc-11i7hbm-0 eUyOEq\"><amp-img alt=\"Nestory Irankunda is set to exit Watford.
