Liga MX Femenil is no more.<\/p>\n

No, the Mexican women\u2019s soccer league has not folded. Instead, the league has rebranded and rearranged its competition format. Now, the domestic Mexican league will be known as Liga Femenil BBVA.<\/p>\n

Previously, Liga Femenil featured 18 teams competing in a \u2018typical\u2019 soccer table. There were no split conferences, no pots. Just 18 teams on one table. However, now, Liga Femenil will split the 18 sides into two groups of nine clubs.<\/p>\n

According to the league, two areas will determine each conference: elo rankings and geographical locations. The \u2018Elo Rating System\u2019 is defined as a\u00a0\u201cmethod for calculating the relative skill levels of players, originally designed for rating chess players.<\/p>\n

There will still be two seasons: the fall Apertura and the spring Clausura. However, now, teams in the same conference will face each other once per Apertura and Clausura, and face off with six teams in the opposing group.<\/p>\n

The top four teams from each conference will advance to the Liga Femenil playoffs.<\/p>\n

The 2026-27 season, beginning with the Apertura, will begin on July 31. There is one major change ahead of the upcoming season: Mazatl\u00e1n is no more, as the club has been replaced by Atlante. Below are the groups for the upcoming season, which will feature the new format and layout.<\/p>\n

The reigning Liga Femenil champion is Club Am\u00e9rica, who defeated C.F. Monterrey, 3-1 on aggregate, in the Clausura. The Clausura\u2019s leading scorers were Eug\u00e9nie Le Sommer of Toluca and Diana Ord\u00f3\u00f1ez of Tigres, who had 18 goals each. <\/p>\n
