The Philadelphia Eagles<\/a> made Jalen Carter<\/a> the highest-paid defensive tackle in NFL history on Tuesday, but they may have done themselves the biggest favor.<\/p>\n

Per ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Eagles and Carter agreed on a four-year, $152M extension with $106M guaranteed that’s set to kick in during the 2028 season. The $38M average annual value (AAV) of his contract is the largest among players at his position, clearing Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons’ $35.2M from his three-year, $105.8M extension signed in June.<\/p>\n

Before this offseason, Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones was the league’s highest-paid interior defensive lineman<\/a>, earning $31.8M per year and $95M guaranteed.<\/p>\n

Despite the eye-popping numbers, Philadelphia was wise to prioritize an extension for its 2023 first-rounder this offseason before his value potentially skyrockets.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
