Spence has been something of a polarising figure at times in the Premier League, but he excelled at the World Cup with England, proving his elite potential. Spence won four duels per game at a success rate of 63%, also completing 56% of his dribbles and 87% of his passes.<\/p>\n

He might not be the sharpest attacking tool, but he wouldn’t need to be in Iraola’s Liverpool system, protecting the area and supplying the likes of Mbaye in front of him with crisp passes and build-up patterns down the right side.<\/p>\n

Spence would not be the most attractive signing that Liverpool could make this summer, but Iraola and FSG need to strike a degree of balance in rekindling the Reds as a first-class attacking force. The two-sided Spence would be instrumental in achieving that and helping a Liverpool backline who have been porous for some time now.<\/p>\n

Moreover, he would indeed be the perfect right-side partner for an emerging talent like Mbaye, who has the world at his feet but needs assistance in growing into his skin as a Premier League superstar, should Liverpool get the deal done.<\/p>\n

Mbaye is direct and fleet-footed. He likes to dart into the danger area and strike on goal, and he is capable of doing so from either wing. In this, Spence would be the perfect presence behind him, a top defender who has built up a wealth of attritional quality after two tough years with Tottenham.<\/p>\n
