While Hunter tried his best not to take such a drastic step, things have changed in the last few days to warrant his potential action.<\/p>\n<p>Rhea Ripley has been sidelined due to an injury since June, and as a result, she has not been able to defend the WWE Women&#8217;s Championship. The company crowned a new Interim champion at SummerSlam, where Chelsea Green outperformed five other SmackDown stars to win the first world title of her career. While fans expected Mami to return to action soon to face Green, she revealed yesterday that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportskeeda.com\/wwe\/news-see-road-rhea-ripley-provides-heartbreaking-health-update\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-is-sponsored=\"false\">she had to undergo surgery for her injury<\/a>, and thus, could be out for a long time.<\/p>\n<p><template id=\"also-read-articles-template\"><\/p>\n<p><\/template><\/p>\n<p><template id=\"template__newsletter-inline-banner-form-combo-widget\"><\/p>\n<div class=\"wrapper\">\n<p><img id=\"subscribe-img\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\nThanks for the submission!\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/template><\/p>\n<p>It was reported on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.f4wonline.com\/podcasts\/wrestling-observer-live\/wol-rhea-ripley-aew-grand-slam-dynamite-mug-dog-dude-wipes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" data-is-sponsored=\"false\">Wrestling Observer<\/a> that there have been &#8220;rumblings&#8221; that Rhea Ripley could end up vacating the Women&#8217;s Championship. It was also noted that we will get a clearer picture on SmackDown, and if Mami ends up vacating the title, Chelsea Green will be crowned the official WWE Women&#8217;s Champion.<\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<h2>Rhea Ripley has previously also vacated title in WWE due to injury<\/h2>\n<p>This won&#8217;t be the first title <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportskeeda.com\/player\/rhea-ripley\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-is-sponsored=\"false\">Rhea Ripley<\/a> may have to vacate a title due to injury. Mami suffered a shoulder injury when she was the Women&#8217;s World Champion in 2024 and had to relinquish the gold. However, she eventually won it back in 2025 after defeating Liv Morgan.<\/p>\n<p>The Eradicator was last seen in action in June, when she suffered an injury at one of the house shows. While she made a few appearances on TV programming after the injury, she has been completely absent over the last few weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Mami won the Women&#8217;s Championship at WrestleMania 42, where she defeated Jade Cargill.
