While speaking with The Indian Express, Ajinkya stated that he saved Yashasvi Jaiswal from a ban of four matches. Jaiswal was involved in a heated sledging incident with South Zone\u2019s T Ravi Teja, despite multiple warnings from the umpire; then captain Rahane had to step in, and despite making the Southpaw understand he did not stop, and thus was sent back to the dressing room.<\/p>\n
“Sledging happens in the game, and I agree that it should happen\u2014it adds a bit of fun,” he said in an interview with The Indian Express. \u201cI sensed the situation, then, would have gone out of hand. Yes, at that point Yashasvi must have felt bad. But we\u2019ve seen many situations where players have been banned, and you never know how time changes.”<\/p>\n
“One opportunity gone, your time changes\u2014you never know. I sensed the situation and also felt both players were going out of hand, and it was my responsibility to control my teammate,” he said.<\/p>\n

Rahane revealed that the match referee, Vengalil Narayanan Kutty, was ready with the letter written for a four-match ban. However, the match referee did not expect that the West Zone captain would send back Jaiswal to the dressing room for his misbehaviour inside the field.<\/p>\n
“The match referee was ready with a 4-match ban\u2014the letter was already written,” he said.<\/p>\n
“He came up to me and said, \u2018This is the letter, but because you did this, I\u2019m tearing it up.\u2019 He tore the letter in front of me\u2026 In the end, I was happy that Jaiswal didn\u2019t get any match ban, and now he\u2019s playing for India.”<\/p>\n
“What could have happened? Maybe he wouldn\u2019t have played after that, or maybe not. He\u2019s a quality player\u2014I\u2019m not taking any credit away from him. But you never know,” he said.<\/p>\n
Yashasvi Jaiswal was ready to leave Mumbai<\/h2>\n
The irony of the match was that Yashasvi Jaiswal, with all the controversy he was being involved in, was awarded the Player of the Match for his excellent innings of 265 runs as West Zone won the final.<\/p>\n
Yashasvi decided to leave the Mumbai Ranji team as the Southpaw rumoured to join Goa after his altercation with Rahane in the team. However, later he did not join the Goa squad and continues playing for Mumbai.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
