Tottenham<\/a> Hotspur have had a productive transfer<\/a> window this summer and are showing no signs of slowing down as Roberto De Zerbi looks to guide the club back to European football after substandard finishes in the Premier League<\/a> in the last two years.<\/p>\n Nicolo Schira has reported<\/a> that the Lilywhites are now keen on signing Atalanta centre back Giorgio Scalvini with the 22-year-old impressing in the Serie A over the last year or two.<\/p>\n In addition to Spurs, Chelsea<\/a> are also keeping tabs on the Italian international, Sun Sport has reported<\/a> on a related note, with Atalanta ready to let go of the defender for approximately \u00a342 million.<\/p>\n Scalvini is a modern-day defender, who excels aerially and physically thanks to a heigh of over six feet, can play the ball out from the back effectively as well as being very intelligent from a tactical standpoint and able to cover ground quickly.<\/p>\n While Tottenham Hotspur have joined Chelsea in the race to sign Giorgio Scalvini, it remains to be seen how strong a chance they have at trumping their arch rivals to the Atalanta centre back\u2019s acquisition this summer.<\/p>\n Earlier this summer, Spurs already bought Jan Paul van Hecke and Marcos Senesi to the club, while recently tying Micky van de Ven to a new contract. Should Cristian Romero leave the club, they would still have adequate defensive depth.<\/p>\n Chelsea, on the other hand, signed Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace but could do with more additions at the back, with Giorgio Scalvini\u2019s profile likely to make him an ideal fit in Xabi Alonso\u2019s system built around possession and high pressing.<\/p>\n Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile are both being linked with a switch away from Stamford Bridge, and once at least one of the players leaves, Chelsea would have space in their squad to accommodate another centre back, possibly Scalvini.<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tChelsea might hold upper hand for Scalvini<\/h2>\n
