It was his second win of the season and second in the last four races, with two races remaining before the Chase begins.<\/p>\n<p>Logano passed Chase Briscoe for the lead just before the final round of pit stops and never relinquished it, holding off Briscoe and Austin Cindric to complete the podium. Ryan Blaney, who won Stage 1 from the pole and claimed the fastest lap bonus, faded to a 13th-place finish. The NASCAR Cook Out 400 also settled the Chase picture significantly.<\/p>\n<p><template id=\"template__newsletter-inline-banner-form-combo-widget\"><\/p>\n<div class=\"wrapper\">\n<p><img id=\"subscribe-img\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\nThanks for the submission!\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/template><\/p>\n<p>Five drivers were eliminated from contention at Richmond. Austin Dillon, Riley Herbst, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., John Hunter Nemechek, and Alex Bowman join the six already out. Meanwhile, Christopher Bell, Chase Elliott, and Chase Briscoe confirmed their Chase spots, meaning most of the 16-driver field is now effectively set. Shane van Gisbergen has a 50-point buffer over Ryan Preece on the cutline.<\/p>\n<p><template id=\"also-read-articles-template\"><\/p>\n<p><\/template><\/p>\n<p>For several drivers, therefore, Richmond either ended their season mathematically or made an already difficult path considerably steeper. Richmond made that miracle even less likely.<\/p>\n<p>On Lap 125, Smith lost control off Turn 2. The rear of the #38 Ford got loose and hit the wall, collecting left-rear suspension damage, bringing out a caution, and sending him to the garage for repairs in Stage 2. Richmond did nothing to address that larger concern building around the No. 20 team.<\/p>\n<p>Bell qualified eighth and ran inside the top eight through both stages, positioning himself well before an early call to pit road on Lap 345 for the final green-flag cycle backfired. He came out 13th with 55 laps remaining as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportskeeda.com\/nascar\/news-who-won-nascar-race-today-full-results-2026-cook-out-400-richmond\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-is-sponsored=\"false\">leaders Chase Briscoe and Joey Logano<\/a> pitted on Lap 362 and ran down Bell on fresher tires ten laps later.<\/p>\n<p>Bell continued losing spots and finished seventh. Source: Getty<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Brad Keselowski arrived at Richmond 48 points off the cutline, knowing the margin for error was essentially gone. On a night when Team Penske&#8217;s Fords dominated the field, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportskeeda.com\/team\/roush-fenway-keselowski-racing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-is-sponsored=\"false\">RFK Racing<\/a>&#8216;s three Fords all finished outside the top 15, and Keselowski was the worst of the group, finishing 26th.<\/p>\n<p>Despite starting ninth in the Cook Out 400, Keselowski picked up just 11 points and now sits at 489, 78 points below the cutline, with New Hampshire and Daytona left before the regular season concludes. He finished four laps down in 27th despite an average running position of 19.9, having spent the first 71 laps of the race inside the top 15 with genuine hope of a top-10 finish.<\/p>\n<p>The Cook Out 400 Stage 2 restart and the ensuing pit stops dropped him from 15th to 24th, and he never recovered from there. Jones now sits 81 points below <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportskeeda.com\/nascar\/news-nascar-cup-series-points-table-updated-driver-s-points-standings-cook-out-400-richmond-raceway\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-is-sponsored=\"false\">the Chase cutline<\/a>, and unless Shane van Gisbergen suffers a significant collapse in the last two races, the No. 43 team&#8217;s Chase hopes are effectively finished.<\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<h3>No. 1 Carson Hocevar &#8211; Spire Motorsports No. 77<\/h3>\n<figure class=\"image\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"sk-app-thumbnail\" alt=\"Carson Hocevar - NASCAR Cup Series Cook Out 400. At Iowa, he suffered engine issues and dropped three places. At Richmond, he finished 37th after another engine issue ended his night late in the race, marking his second consecutive finish outside the top 30.<\/p>\n<p>The Cook Out 400 result dropped Hocevar from eighth to 11th. Spire Motorsports&#8217; performance under the 750-horsepower short-track package has consistently trailed its stronger form on larger ovals and superspeedways.
