It was learned<\/a> on Sunday night that veteran Von Miller<\/a>\u00a0and a\u00a0<\/span>Dallas Cowboys<\/a> team that had been linked with numerous pass-rushers throughout the spring and summer months had agreed to a one-year contract.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n During an appearance on the “Nightcap” program, the 37-year-old who was born and raised in the Dallas suburb of DeSoto, Texas, opened up about his homecoming.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n “They were the first team to contact me, like a week before training camp,” Miller said about the Cowboys, per\u00a0<\/span>Michael David Smith<\/span><\/a>\u00a0of Pro Football Talk. “It just seemed right to me. I live here in the offseason, my mom and dad are here, my kids are here. I\u2019ve always had blue in my heart since I was a little boy. I always paid attention to the Dallas Cowboys. My earliest memory of football includes the Dallas Cowboys. I heard my daddy screaming in the back, and I ran back there to see what was going on, and he was screaming because the Dallas Cowboys had scored a touchdown. That\u2019s my earliest memory of football, and to be back home, it\u2019s a dream within a dream.”\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Most recently, Miller spent last season as a member of the Washington Commanders<\/a>, and ESPN stats<\/a> show that he led Washington with nine sacks that he accumulated over 17 games. To compare, no Dallas<\/a> player tallied more than 8.5 sacks during the 2025 campaign.\u00a0<\/p>\n “I can still walk in at 8-10 sacks now,” Miller insisted. “That\u2019s just walking in. I\u2019m going to have opportunities to do it.”\u00a0<\/p>\n Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones has received praise<\/a> from numerous members of the NFL<\/a> community for moves he made to bolster the team’s defense following last season. That said, some thought<\/a> as recently as last week that the Cowboys could take a swing at landing Maxx Crosby from\u00a0the<\/span> One would think Sunday’s development would at least temporarily remove the Cowboys from the list of potential landing spots for Crosby. As for Miller, he made a promise to his new teammates regarding what he will bring to the club’s locker room.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n “I am the best teammate in the history of the National Football League,” Miller explained. “When it comes to being a great teammate, I just know how to do it. Every team that I\u2019ve been on, there\u2019s not a guy in that locker room who would say anything bad about me.”\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Miller added that he is “excited to get started” as a Cowboys player.
