Sreeshankar, who won the long jump event at Indian GP-3, at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on Monday, 10 April, 2023.<br \/>\n| Photo Credit: SUDHAKARA JAIN\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"content-body-66720994\" itemprop=\"articleBody\">\n<p>On a day when quality performances were at a premium, Rubina Yadav (Haryana) towered over the rest by attaining the women\u2019s high jump qualifying mark for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/news\/international\/world\/delayed-asian-games-rescheduled-to-start-in-september-2023\/article65658024.ece\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">Asian Games<\/a> in the <a href=\"https:\/\/sportstar.thehindu.com\/athletics\/indian-grand-prix-3-gp-sreeshankar-national-games-amlan-borgohain-jeswin-anees-yahiya-preview\/article66717432.ece\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Indian Grand Prix-3<\/a> at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium here on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>There was little competition for Rubina after her two rivals Pavaa Nagaraj and S.B. Supriya quit the scene after clearing 1.64m and 1.55m respectively. Sreeshankar\u2019s comeback as the ace long jumper could only manage a modest 7.94m.\u00a0\u00a0Sreeshankar, who struggled with his run-up, nailed the gold in his first attempt when he touched 7.83m.\u00a0\u00a0After clearing 7.90m in his fourth attempt, Sreeshankar came up with his best effort in his final attempt.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was struggling quite a lot with the wind. It was very windy. I just couldn\u2019t find any sort of rhythm. This was my competition after injury and I am picking up quite well. 1 will be able to improve in the coming competitions,\u2019\u2019 said Sreeshankar who is currently ranked number six in the world.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think Sreeshankar did well considering how bad the conditions were. But we had set a target of crossing eight metres here so we are a bit disappointed. We will be now heading to the USA for training and competitions and he will be taking part in a meet in Philadelphia on April 30,\u201d said Sreeshankar\u2019s coach and father S.
