It is the first public look at the Leafs star on skates since he suffered a Grade 3 MCL tear and quadriceps contusion in March.<\/p>\n<p><em>Watch the video below:<\/em><\/p>\n<p><template id=\"also-read-articles-template\"><\/p>\n<p><\/template><\/p>\n<p>Auston Matthews, who has spent the offseason recovering and working with specialists, got injured during a regular-season game between the Maple Leafs and Ducks back in March after a brutal knee-on-knee collision with Radko Gudas.<\/p>\n<p>Matthews was helped off the ice and later ruled out for the rest of the 2025-26 season. I\u2019m listening to First Up on TSN radio, and I believe it was Aaron Korolnek in with Mike De Stefano today,&#8221; said Sid.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>He added:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;I thought he was joking when Aaron Korolnek first said this on air, but Korolnek said, coming up at 9 a.m. Eastern, we\u2019re going to talk via phone with Dr. Shawn Robek, Auston Matthews\u2019 chiropractor, and I went, \u2018He\u2019s not serious. What doctor does interviews in the city about, of all teams, the Leafs?&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Now that Matthews has started training on the ice, he&#8217;s expected to be fully fit for the 2026-27 season.
