The Catalan athlete finished eighth in the European Championships heptathlon<\/strong>, with 6,372 points<\/strong>, a new Spanish record<\/strong>, and she also secured a finalist berth by just one point<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Vicente closed the competition with a superb 2:14.81<\/strong> in the 800 metres<\/strong>, very close to her personal best (2:13.83<\/strong>), to seal that eighth place. Behind her was the other Spanish athlete, Sof\u00eda Cosculluela<\/strong>, thirteenth in the first 800m heat with 2:21.20<\/strong> and 5,999 points<\/strong> in the heptathlon to finish 18th.<\/p>\n The result represents the well-deserved reward for many months of hardship and recovery after injuries.
