In the 85th minute, with scores tied 1-1, a Rio Cardines cross was miraculously flicked in by Ballard \u2013 while facing away from the goal \u2013 with Blues goalkeeper James Beadle powerless to do anything about it.<\/p>\n

Dubbed a \u2018reverse-scorpion\u2019 online, it was his first goal in his first match for the Robins \u2013 and he\u2019ll struggle to ever top it.<\/p>\n

The stunning moment sparked wild scenes among the travelling Bristol fans, even if a 95th-minute equaliser from Demarai Gray saw Birmingham escape with a draw.<\/p>\n

Speaking after the game, the 21-year old was candid about just how special the moment was.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe fans were amazing \u2013 I ran straight to them when I scored, which was an incredible feeling,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI won\u2019t score many better than that \u2013 really, really happy.\u201d<\/p>\n

The goal has spread like wildfire across social media, with many fans adamant that the Puskas Award race is already over.<\/p>\n

However, Ballard admitted the Blues\u2019 late equaliser left a sour taste.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re disappointed with the result in the end,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought we were the better team.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you come to a new club, you want to hit the ground running, so to get the goal today against a good Birmingham City side is great.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
