England fast bowler Josh Tongue has reacted to the latest off-field controversy involving Brydon Carse, saying the team must learn from what happened and move forward. Carse was left out of England\u2019s squad for the second Test against Pakistan at Lord\u2019s, starting Thursday, August 27. <\/p>\n
The decision came after videos went viral on social media showing the screamer being taken away in handcuffs by police following an incident at a nightclub in Derby last week. Such an incident led Ben Stokes to retire from international cricket.<\/p>\n As England gear up to face Pakistan in the second Test at Lord\u2019s, Josh Tongue has stressed that playing for the national cricket team is a huge privilege and the players must set the right example for youngsters who dream of representing the country.<\/p>\n Josh Tongue said at the pre-match press conference at Lord\u2019s: \u201cWe’ve just got to make sure we’re as professional as we can. Obviously, things that have happened, we need to try and move on from them and show all the youngsters growing up wanting to play for England that it’s an amazing place to be.\u201d<\/p>\n The fast bowler also revealed that England captain Joe Root has made his expectations very clear to the players. Tongue further added, \u201cHe said it straight. Yeah, it was a very good conversation, and he made it clear what he expects from us. The skipper said that he was really disappointed with the incident and admitted that they had a tough discussion later.<\/p>\n Root said at Lord\u2019s, \u201cIf I am brutally honest, I am really hacked off. In terms of the incident itself, obviously with the regulator, there\u2019s not a lot I can say on it.
