At the time, Flair said she was interested in showing a different side of herself by portraying an on-screen relationship. WWE ultimately did not move forward with the concept.<\/p>\n<p>Andrade later left WWE, signed with AEW, and returned to WWE at the 2024 Royal Rumble. However, the timing of his comeback proved unfortunate. Charlotte Flair suffered a serious knee injury during the match against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportskeeda.com\/wwe\/news-personal-update-wwe-legend-asuka\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-is-sponsored=\"false\">Asuka<\/a> in December 2023 and underwent surgery, which kept her away from WWE programming for more than a year.<\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<h2>Charlotte Flair and Andrade&#8217;s divorce<\/h2>\n<p>There was also a significant personal development during that period. Flair filed for divorce from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportskeeda.com\/aew\/news-andrade-pulls-sensational-victory-aew-all-in-2026-leaves-mjf-shocked\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-is-sponsored=\"false\">Andrade<\/a> in June 2024, and it was finalized in October 2024. The couple had married in May 2022 after beginning their relationship in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Andrade explained that by the time he returned to WWE, the storyline he and Flair had envisioned was no longer possible because she had been sidelined.<\/p>\n<p>Andrade El Idolo has repeatedly defended Flair when fans attempted to connect their divorce to his WWE departure.
