Manchester United<\/a> legend Nicky Butt has tipped his old club to sign Chelsea<\/a> forward Cole Palmer.<\/strong><\/p>\n After coming through Manchester City<\/a>\u2019s youth system, the 24-year-old made his first-team debut back in 2020. But he struggled to break into Pep Guardiola\u2019s starting line-up.<\/p>\n So, he decided to join the Blues in 2023 to play regularly and develop his career. During his debut campaign at Stamford Bridge, Palmer showcased his productivity, scoring 25 goals and registering 15 assists in 45 appearances across all competitions.<\/p>\n He continued to display promising performances the following season, helping his side win the Club World Cup and Conference League. However, the Englishman endured a difficult campaign last term, with persistent injury problems being a key reason.<\/p>\n But Palmer has enjoyed a stellar start this season, scoring twice and registering one assist in two Premier League<\/a> appearances. Moreover, he guided his side to win both of those fixtures.<\/p>\n Now, speaking on The Good, The Bad & The Football podcast<\/span><\/a> (via Metro<\/span><\/a>), Butt claims that Palmer might move to Old Trafford one day. On the other hand, Paul Scholes says that Palmer is a United fan, so it wouldn\u2019t be a surprise.<\/p>\n Palmer is a left-footed creative midfielder by trait but can provide cover on the right flank if needed. He is technically sound, can create opportunities for fellow attackers, is efficient at taking set-pieces and has an eye for scoring goals from distance.<\/p>\n Since joining Man Utd from Sporting CP, Bruno Fernandes has been an undisputed starter in the creative midfield position. He showcased his qualities last term, making 31 goal contributions in 37 appearances in all competitions.<\/p>\n The 31-year-old has even enjoyed a stellar start this season, scoring three goals and registering a solitary assist in two Premier League appearances.<\/p>\n However, he is edging closer to the twilight of his career and his existing deal is set to run until next summer. So, United would need a new No.10 over the coming years.<\/p>\n Mason Mount is Fernandes\u2019 deputy at United, but he has struggled with fitness problems.
