Those numbers come from three years of anonymized, opted\u2011in data from the eBike Flow app<\/a>, which tracks activity and connected\u2011bike odometer readings. As Bosch puts it, \u201cThese are real miles, ridden by real people, on typical days.\u201d As I\u2019ve shared, I commute, have fun, and even ridge singletrack with my Orox<\/a>.<\/p>\n More than 52 million of those miles are directly measured. When extrapolated across all Bosch smart\u2011system bikes in the U.S., the total reaches that 62\u2011million\u2011mile mark\u2014roughly 2,500 laps around the equator or two\u2011thirds of the way to the sun. It\u2019s also the equivalent of riding the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route more than 22,000 times.<\/p>\n What\u2019s notable isn\u2019t just the scale, but who\u2019s doing the riding. Bosch\u2019s data shows a mix of eMTB riders squeezing in one more climb, commuters replacing car trips, parents hauling kids and groceries, and people returning to bikes after years away.<\/p>\n That corresponds with PeopleForBikes\u2019 recent analysis showing the U.S. eBike market shifting from recreation toward everyday transportation\u2014and toward riders who never previously identified as cyclists. Cargo bikes, in particular, are among the fastest\u2011growing categories.<\/p>\n Bosch\u2019s smart system<\/a> is also evolving. Earlier this year, the company rolled out its Performance upgrade 2.0. That\u2019s a free over\u2011the\u2011air update that boosts torque and support on nine drive units. The eBike Flow app continues to function as a hub for ride tracking, theft protection, custom modes, and navigation integrations with Strava, Komoot, Apple Watch, and Garmin.<\/p>\n Bosch now works with more than 100 bike brands worldwide, supplying motors, batteries, displays, and software.
