Not so long ago, two-thirds of the NBA would’ve sold the farm to get their hands on Kevin Durant, and the other third would’ve at least considered it.<\/p>\n
But things change quickly in this line of business. Players are seen as commodities, and trading for Durant hasn’t yielded a strong return on investment.<\/p>\n
That’s why, even though he’s still undeniably one of the best three-level scorers in basketball, teams aren’t lining up to get him anymore.<\/p>\n
According to NBA insider Sean Deveney, Durant’s trade market has been pretty much non-existent thus far, and while that can always change, it’s hard to blame teams for being hesitant.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\n“Seems that if the Rockets were going to trade Durant, they\u2019d have done it by now. But Durant is not seen as a top-level commodity by many front offices, given the way his teams have underperformed since he left Golden State seven years ago. No one is eager to sign up for the burner-account nonsense, either,” Deveney wrote<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Durant has gotten his usual numbers, but that hasn’t translated into championship-contender status.<\/p>\n
There’s also the social media shenanigans, the back-and-forth with fans and members of the media and multiple burner account scandals.<\/p>\n
The Rockets won as many games with Durant as they did in the previous season, all while dealing with constant scrutiny and rumors, so other teams might feel that, at 37 and with no track record of success after leaving the Bay Area, he simply may not be worth the hassle anymore.<\/p>\n
That said, given the way he’s handled his career, it would be tough to affirm that Rocket City will be his final stop in the league.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
