But when it came to the passing game? There was just nothing there. He completed just 9-of-17 passes for only 111 yards, and even worse, he did not seem to have the trust of the coaching staff in any big moment. Michigan spent pretty much all of the second half and fourth quarter just running the ball, even in situations on third-and-medium (or short) where a first down could have put the game away. They just had absolutely no interest in putting the ball in Underwood’s hands.\u00a0<\/p>\n
That might work in some individual games.\u00a0<\/p>\n
It might not work over a full season and in the Big Ten, where some of the best teams in the country play. At some point, Underwood is going to have to make some plays with his arm. Michigan doesn’t seem to trust that he can (or will).<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
