The Seattle Seahawks<\/a> want Sam Darnold back on the field as soon as possible, but that may not be the case. Darnold was injured during the team’s season opener against the New England Patriots<\/a>, and his timeline for return has been murky, at best.<\/p>\n The Seahawks won that game<\/a> against the Patriots 13-10, but it was a close one. Backup quarterback Drew Lock stepped in and secured a victory, but any NFL franchise would prefer to have their starting quarterback available instead of a backup.<\/p>\n Now, according to a report from Mike Florio of NBC Sports<\/a>, the Seahawks may be without Darnold for anywhere from four to six weeks. That’s a long time, especially at the very start of a season.<\/p>\n “Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Darnold could miss four to six weeks,” Florio stated in the report, released on Sunday evening.<\/p>\n “The injury has been described as a glute tendon, in a report from Jay Glazer of Fox,” the NBC Sports story adds. “Glazer also said that the Seahawks are gathering up to four second opinions on the injury.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n The good news is that Florio says surgery isn’t going to happen for this injury. That would obviously take Darnold out even longer. So, the Seahawks and Darnold will simply have to figure out a safe time for him to return and hope they don’t push him onto the field too soon.<\/p>\n Florio also noted that Seattle, thankfully, doesn’t have the “worst-case scenario” with Darnold’s injury. But being out four to six weeks is way less than ideal.
