He had been on medical leave since Aug. 6. After the news broke, the school said it had closed an investigation centered on former general manager Michael Lombardi.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>North Carolina releases statement on investigation\u00a0<\/h2>\n<p>The investigation came to light after Lombardi was placed on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yardbarker.com\/college_football\/articles\/north_carolina_gm_michael_lombardi_placed_on_administrative_leave\/s1_13132_44106252\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">administrative leave\u00a0<\/a>on July 27 after a former employee filed an HR complaint. <span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yardbarker.com\/college_football\/articles\/north_carolina_faces_major_questions_after_michael_lombardi_resignation\/s1_13132_44255873\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">He resigned<\/a> on Sept. 3.
