Norwich boss Philippe Clement has provided an update on Mohamed Toure.<\/p>\n

And it isn\u2019t good for the Socceroos or the Championship club.<\/p>\n

Toure went down after suffering a shoulder injury<\/a> early in Norwich City\u2019s thrilling EFL Championship loss to Bolton.<\/p>\n

Playing just 15 minutes in the game, the in-form forward still continued his blistering start to the season, scoring in the fifth minute to give Norwich an early lead.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat is lethal! That is absolutely lethal from Mo Toure!\u201d the commentator exclaimed.<\/p>\n

It was the third time the young gun had scored inside 10 minutes of a match this Championship season, but it wouldn\u2019t be long before he went down and was ruled out for the rest of the game.<\/p>\n

In clear discomfort, Toure was assisted from the field, with Norwich manager Philippe Clement telling BBC Sport post-match it was \u201ctoo early\u201d to determine the extent of the injury.<\/p>\n

Clement has now revealed the extent of the injury and how long Toure is expected to miss.<\/p>\n

\u201cMo Toure will be out for months and he will need surgery,\u201d Clement said to the Pink Un<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat is a bad one.\u201d<\/p>\n

While it is a massive blow for Norwich, it is also a devastating blow for the Socceroos and head coach Tony Popovic.<\/p>\n

Toure was part of the squad set to face Brazil on September 25 and 29.<\/p>\n

He has since been replaced by Nishan Velupillay, who is currently playing for FC Ingolstadt in the 3. Liga \u2013 Germany\u2019s third division.<\/p>\n

Long-term, it also creates uncertainty around his availability for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia next January, where the much-improved forward is expected to be a major part of Australia\u2019s campaign.<\/p>\n

The Australians have been drawn in Group D alongside Graham Arnold\u2019s Iraq, Singapore and Tajikistan.<\/p>\n

During the recent transfer window, Toure also attracted significant interest from some of Europe\u2019s top leagues, but the injury now almost certainly dents his chances of securing a big move in January.<\/p>\n

Toure was linked with Galatasaray, Sporting CP, Porto and Hull City following the World Cup and before his incredible start to the season.<\/p>\n

Since debuting for Norwich in February, the Socceroo has scored 16 goals and tallied four assists in 21 games across all competitions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
