(Source: Getty)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>After a first-round bye, third seed Alexandra Eala will take on Tatiana Prozorova in the second round of the Singapore Tennis Open 2026.<\/p>\n<p><template id=\"also-read-articles-template\"><\/p>\n<p><\/template><\/p>\n<p>Eala started the season with a semifinal showing in Auckland but lost in the first round of the Australian Open. She wrapped up the early hardcourt swing with a quarterfinal showing at the Dubai Open, followed by fourth-round finishes at the Indian Wells Open and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportskeeda.com\/go\/miami-masters\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-is-sponsored=\"false\">Miami Open<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Eala&#8217;s results on clay were quite underwhelming. A third-round finish at the Italian Open was her best result on the surface. She bounced back with some strong results on grass. She made the semifinals in Berlin with a win over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportskeeda.com\/player\/elena-rybakina\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-is-sponsored=\"false\">Elena Rybakina<\/a>, and the fourth round at Wimbledon with a win over defending champion Iga Swiatek.<\/p>\n<p>Eala claimed her maiden WTA title at the Mubadala DC Open upon the resumption of the hardcourt swing. She then made the fourth round of the Canadian Open, and the third round of the Cincinnati Open and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportskeeda.com\/go\/us-open\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-is-sponsored=\"false\">US Open<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While Eala received a bye into the second round, Prozorova faced Sofia Costoulas in the first round. Prozorova initially recouped a break deficit in the first set but couldn&#8217;t do the same a second time, thus conceding the set.<\/p>\n<p>Prozorova found herself on the backfoot in the second set as well. However, this time she recovered from a break down to force a tie-break, and then outplayed Costoulas in the tie-break to take the set.
