In Montreal on Thursday, the 17-year-old fired a warning shot, proclaiming himself as Spain&#8217;s talent of the future, cocking an imaginary pistol and taking the shot as he won the <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/uci-road-world-championships\/\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/uci-road-world-championships\/\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-article-category=\"pro-cycling\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/uci-road-world-championships\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UCI Road World Championships<\/a> junior men&#8217;s road race.<\/p>\n<p>The son of a former Alberto Contador teammate of the same name, Noval was of course referencing the famous &#8216;el pistolero&#8217; salute. The next day, I thought, &#8216;Yes, I won, but I have another race the next day.&#8217; I tried to enjoy it with the team, but I also thought that I could win today,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">&#8220;It&#8217;s incredible because I prepared for these two races all year. In the last months, I was only training and focusing on these two days, and I think that it&#8217;s incredible to win today. Now, I&#8217;ll go enjoy with the family and do a really good celebration in the hotel.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">Once the celebrations are done, Noval&#8217;s life is about to get more serious as he is signed to Netcompany Ineos for 2027 and 2028.
