Kevin Pietersen<\/strong><\/a> has returned to the England<\/strong> setup after more than a decade away from international cricket. The former batter was recently appointed as a specialist mentor for the white-ball teams ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup<\/strong> in South Africa<\/strong>. Pietersen has now revealed that he has also spoken with Test coach Stephen Fleming<\/strong> about potentially helping England ahead of the next Ashes<\/strong> series. However, he admitted that his schedule could prevent him from taking on a larger role with the red-ball side.<\/p>\n Pietersen confirmed that he has already discussed a potential Ashes role with Fleming. While he is open to helping England, he does not expect to spend significant time inside the Test dressing room. He added that there is plenty of time before the Ashes for conversations to take place and revealed that Fleming has already discussed the kind of language he would like Pietersen to use with England\u2019s Test batters.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve got a pretty mad schedule, (but) I wouldn\u2019t say no. I\u2019ve certainly had conversations with Flem about language that he would like me to use with the Test batters, going into South Africa, and then certainly into the summer next year,\u201d<\/em> Pietersen told reporters.<\/p>\n England will host Australia in the Ashes from June 18 to August 2, 2027. The former middle-order batter scored nearly 14,000 runs across all three formats for England. His international career ended in 2014 after the team suffered a 5-0 Ashes whitewash in Australia<\/strong>. Now back around the England setup, Pietersen said he has moved on from that period.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m 46, man. That stuff\u2019s so long gone. I\u2019m a completely different person too,\u201d<\/em> he concluded.<\/p>\n Pietersen\u2019s first series in his new role ended with England completing a 3-0 T20I whitewash of Sri Lanka<\/strong>, helping them move to the top of the T20 world rankings.
