When the Boston Red Sox<\/a> welcomed the New York Yankees to Fenway Park for a four-game series in June, they\u2019d already fired manager Alex Cora, were just 32-46 and occupied last place in the American League East. <\/p>\n But after sweeping the Yankees, Boston went on an insane run that included a 21-4 record in July to get back into contention. Tonight they\u2019ll face off with those Yankees at Yankee Stadium in the best-of-three Wild Card round for the second consecutive season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The Sox will start proceedings with lefty pitcher Payton Tolle<\/a> on the mound. Tolle \u2013 who will be the third-youngest pitcher<\/span><\/a> to start in the first playoff game for Boston \u2013 led the team with 171 strikeouts and has shown the ability to completely take over a game with three 10-K games in his first full season as a Big Leaguer.
