After winning the toss and batting first, the Men in Blue raced to 128/3 in 13 overs.

However, two quick wickets saw India reduced to 133/5 in the 15th over, before Tilak took over. The left-hander eased in before cutting loose with a series of boundaries and maximums.

Tilak powered his way to a 21-ball half-century and finished with 51 off 22 deliveries, including three boundaries and four maximums. The 23-year-old has enjoyed much success against Pakistan in his T20I career, averaging 103 in five innings.

He delivered a similarly defining knock of 69* off 53 balls in the Asia Cup 2025 final against Pakistan, helping India clinch the title in a final-over thriller. Tilak has turned into one of India’s most reliable T20I batters, averaging an impressive 44.07 at a strike rate of over 145 in 65 outings.

<template id="also-read-articles-template">

</template>

Fans on X hailed Tilak Varma for his crucial half-century in another big final with the following reactions:

Tilak is the future all format GOAT

Always believe in Tilak in the clutch moments 💥

@IMManu_14 Tilak Varma against Pakistan is a different gravy

Fans continued praising Tilak for his incredible knock, with one saying:

“Tilak Varma under pressure is a different beast.”

“I will never club Tilak Varma with Shreyas Iyer from now,” said a fan.

“Tilak owning Pak in the finals: never-ending love story,” a fan said.

Tilak Varma’s brilliance has India in a dominant position to clinch gold in the Asian Games 2026

Tilak Varma’s brilliant finish was just what the doctor ordered for Team India as they finished with a formidable 211/6 in 20 overs in the Asian Games 2026 final against Pakistan.
