Estepona lived this Sunday a historic day with the inaugural edition of the Marathon and Half Marathon Estepona Jardin of the Costa del Sol<\/strong>, a rendezvous that gathered more than 1,700 runners from over 50 nationalities<\/strong> and transformed the city\u2019s streets into a true celebration of sport.<\/p>\n The event drew a strong international response, but it also saw substantial local involvement, with more than 200 Estepona runners<\/strong> taking part in an inaugural edition that benefited from notable citizen participation along the entire course. The day also featured the presence of Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Garc\u00eda Urbano<\/strong>, the mayor of Estepona, and the world champion Mart\u00edn Fiz<\/strong>, ambassador of the race.<\/p>\n If there was a dream image for a first edition, it would have been hard to imagine a better one. The inaugural winner of the Estepona Marathon was precisely a local runner. Juan Miguel Caravaca<\/strong> crossed the finish line in first place and became the first athlete to place his name on the event\u2019s honours list. Alongside him, the men\u2019s marathon podium was completed by Roberto Alonso<\/strong>, in second, and Richard Price<\/strong>, in third.<\/p>\n In the women\u2019s category, the victory went to Sonia Oncala<\/strong>, followed by Ciara Gaffney<\/strong> and Luc\u00eda Alfaro Garc\u00eda<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Men\u2019s Marathon Standings<\/strong><\/p>\n Women\u2019s Marathon Standings<\/strong><\/p>\n The 21-kilometer race also offered a high level of competition. In the men\u2019s category, the victory went to the Soriano Dani Mateo<\/strong>, followed by Arnaud Lepezel<\/strong> and Jordan Noel L\u00f3pez<\/strong>. In the women\u2019s, the win went to Teresa Velasco Castillo<\/strong>, with Amelia Marie Tebbe<\/strong> and Irene Alcaide<\/strong> completing the podium.<\/p>\n One of the most appreciated aspects by participants was the course designed to showcase some of the city\u2019s most representative spaces.
