The complainant accused him of establishing a physical relationship on the promise of marriage and also made allegations of criminal intimidation.

After initially being placed in police custody, Porel was sent to judicial custody on August 14 when a Chinsurah court rejected his bail application.

He remained in custody for more than a month before a Chinsurah court granted him bail on September 17, 2026. Akash Deep also contributed two wickets as Bengal’s pace attack kept the visitors under pressure.

With Porel and Gharami still unbeaten, Bengal will look to extend their advantage when play resumes on Day 3.

For Abhishek Porel, however, the century was more than an important contribution to Bengal’s innings.
