His two other starts came in the FA Community Shield clash and EFL Cup third round tie.<\/p>\n<p><template id=\"template__newsletter-inline-banner-form-combo-widget\"><\/p>\n<div class=\"wrapper\">\n<p><img id=\"subscribe-img\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\nThanks for the submission!\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/template><\/p>\n<p>During a recent interaction with <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2026\/10\/13\/learn-arsenal-way-nigel-winterburn-sends-message-summer-signing-29703525\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" data-is-sponsored=\"false\">Metro<\/a>, Winterburn was asked what the 28-year-old should do to cement his place in Mikel Arteta&#8217;s starting lineup. The former Gunners left-back replied:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Learn the Arsenal way. I think he has a brilliant temperament. He&#8217;s used to playing, but he came on against Sunderland and scored, then came on again and scored, changing the momentum alongside Arteta&#8217;s other substitutions. It&#8217;s about patience and understanding what&#8217;s required of him, while the other players learn how he plays and make sure the team doesn&#8217;t leave as much space.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><template id=\"also-read-articles-template\"><\/p>\n<div class=\"article-single-related article-related-recommend\">\n<a class=\"article-single-related-url\" data-variant=\"3\" data-drop-off-point=\"\"><br \/>\n<img class=\"article-related-image article-related-recommend-image\"\/><\/p>\n<p><\/a>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/template><\/p>\n<p>The Brazilian&#8217;s only <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportskeeda.com\/go\/epl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-is-sponsored=\"false\">Premier League<\/a> start came in his new team&#8217;s 3-0 loss against Brighton &amp; Hove Albion last month. He failed to live up to expectations against the Seagulls before being substituted off on the hour-mark.<\/p>\n<p>Asked to comment on Guimaraes&#8217; below-par display against Brighton at American Express Stadium, the three-time league winner responded:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;I&#8217;d call the Brighton match a bad day, but Brighton were excellent with and without the ball, particularly in their pressing. They won all the battles. I don&#8217;t think you can single out one Arsenal player. None of them came out of that game with many positives. With Bruno, it&#8217;s a case of waiting and continuing to work with him. You can see his quality on the ball.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Guimaraes, who has scored twice in seven outings for the Gunners, will next be in action against Lille in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<h2>Pundit singles out Arsenal ace for praise<\/h2>\n<p>Nigel Winterburn has showered praise on in-form left-back Riccardo Calafiori after the Italian&#8217;s sensational start to the ongoing 2026-27 season. He told Metro:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;I think he offers more going forward than defensively, if I&#8217;m honest, but he&#8217;s still a good defender. Arteta called him a &#8216;free spirit&#8217;, didn&#8217;t he? I wish I&#8217;d been allowed to play like that when I was playing. When Arsenal have the ball, Calafiori moves into positions you wouldn&#8217;t expect a left-back or right-back to occupy. He&#8217;s quality on the ball and puts himself in goalscoring positions.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Calafiori, 24, has started all seven of his club appearances across all competitions this campaign.
