The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has provided a major update on the top two injured cricketers \u2013 Shreyas Iyer and Jasprit Bumrah. Both players are out of action at the moment with the latter playing his last competitive game in September last year.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, Iyer sustained a lower back injury during the fourth Test against Australia last month. Both of them are not playing the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) as well.<\/p>\n

Coming to the update, BCCI has confirmed that the pacer Jasprit Bumrah is pain-free after undergoing successful back surgery and as per the medical professional\u2019s advice, has joined the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for his rehab after six weeks of rest.<\/p>\n

\u201cMr Jasprit Bumrah underwent surgery in New Zealand on his lower back, which was successful and he remains pain-free. The fast bowler was advised by the specialist to start his rehab six weeks after the surgery and accordingly, Mr Bumrah has commenced his rehab management at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru from Friday,\u201d<\/strong> the BCCI statement read.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Bumrah last played for India in a couple of T20Is against Australia in September 2022 and then complained of further pain in the back, which had started in England in July 2022. He missed the Asia Cup 2022, the T20 World Cup 2022 and will miss the entire ongoing IPL 2023.<\/p>\n

Shreyas Iyer Is Scheduled To Undergo Surgery Next Week: BCCI<\/strong><\/h3>\n

On the other hand, Shreyas Iyer suffered a bulging disc in his lower back and nerve issues after he returned from a short hiatus during the last two Tests against Australia recently. He fielded for more than 167 overs and complained of back pain and didn\u2019t come out to bat during India\u2019s innings.<\/p>\n

He is also missing the entire IPL 2023 where he was to captain the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and BCCI confirmed that he will undergo surgery to correct the issue next week.<\/p>\n

\u201cMr Shreyas Iyer is scheduled to undergo surgery for his lower back issue next week. He will remain under the surgeon\u2019s care for two weeks and will return to the NCA after that for rehabilitation,\u201d<\/strong> the statement from BCCI read.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
