{"id":27228,"date":"2023-04-17T01:20:54","date_gmt":"2023-04-17T01:20:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sports.runfyers.com\/index.php\/2023\/04\/17\/mets-calling-up-top-prospect-after-hot-start-in-minors\/"},"modified":"2023-04-17T01:20:54","modified_gmt":"2023-04-17T01:20:54","slug":"mets-calling-up-top-prospect-after-hot-start-in-minors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sports.runfyers.com\/index.php\/2023\/04\/17\/mets-calling-up-top-prospect-after-hot-start-in-minors\/","title":{"rendered":"Mets calling up top prospect after hot start in minors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The New York Mets are giving one of the top prospects in all of baseball a much-deserved promotion to the Major Leagues.<\/p>\n<p>Third baseman Brett Baty will be getting called up to the Major Leagues, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/martinonyc\/status\/1647648433459679232\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reports<\/a> SNY&#8217;s Andy Martino.<\/p>\n<p>Baty entered the season as the No. 19 prospect in all of baseball according to MLB.com, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mlb.com\/prospects\/top100\/brett-baty-683146\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">and tops among third-basemen<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Among Mets prospects he is the No. 2 prospect in the system behind catcher Francisco Alvarez who has already been promoted to the big club.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Baty appeared in 11 games for the Mets last August, hitting two home runs before a thumb injury ended his season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He opened the 2023 season in Triple-A Syracuse and has been ripping the cover off the ball over the first two weeks. Through nine games, he&#8217;s hit five home runs with 15 RBI while reaching base in half his plate appearances. He&#8217;s posted a ridiculous slash line of .400\/.500\/.886.<\/p>\n<p>Under the ownership of Steve Cohen, the Mets have been one of the most free-spending teams in the league, spending major money on free agents and trying to build the best possible team to compete in the National League.
