{"id":27324,"date":"2023-04-17T05:47:12","date_gmt":"2023-04-17T05:47:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sports.runfyers.com\/index.php\/2023\/04\/17\/colts-owner-makes-it-clear-all-qb-options-are-on-the-table-in-draft\/"},"modified":"2023-04-17T05:47:12","modified_gmt":"2023-04-17T05:47:12","slug":"colts-owner-makes-it-clear-all-qb-options-are-on-the-table-in-draft","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sports.runfyers.com\/index.php\/2023\/04\/17\/colts-owner-makes-it-clear-all-qb-options-are-on-the-table-in-draft\/","title":{"rendered":"Colts owner makes it clear all QB options are on the table in draft"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"ac_73027657\">\n<div class=\"froala-view custom-theme first_text_block\">\n<p> The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yardbarker.com\/nfl\/teams\/indianapolis_colts\/37\" class=\"yard_link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Indianapolis Colts<\/a> have the No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 draft and a desperate need for a new franchise quarterback. <\/p>\n<p>It seems like a given that they will use the former to satisfy the latter.<\/p>\n<p> Colts owner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yardbarker.com\/nfl\/players\/jim_irsay\/143315\" class=\"yard_link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jim Irsay<\/a>, never one to shy away from attention and creating intrigue on social media, sent out a Tweet on Sunday that indicated that all quarterback options are on the table.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"ac_73027659\">\n<div class=\"froala-view custom-theme \">\n<p>Ever since the sudden retirement of Andrew Luck prior to the 2019 season the Colts have had a revolving door of quarterbacks, using a different starter in every year since.<\/p>\n<p>They went from Jacoby Brissett, to Phillip Rivers, to Carson Wentz, to Matt Ryan, with none of them being anything close to resembling a long-term option.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As the Colts&#8217; season went in the tank in the second half of the 2022 season it seemed obvious that they would be positioned to hopefully choose their next franchise quarterback.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If they stay put at No. 4 that will almost certainly take them out of the Bryce Young or C.J. Stroud market as they are expected to be the top-two picks in the draft.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Anthony Richardson and Will Levis are expected to be the next group of quarterbacks off the board, while there is no real consensus on who should go first.<\/p>\n<p>Both have outrageous physical ability but have had limited success as starters in college.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Richardson is the wild card in the draft as he provides an unmatched combination of size and physical skills.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Carolina Panthers already traded up to the No. 1 pick in a blockbuster deal with the Chicago Bears.<\/p>\n<p>That means any trade up would have to involve either Houston at No. 2 or Arizona at No. 3.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Trading back could be intriguing, but that could take the quarterback choice out of their hands depending on how far back they decide to move.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The only option he did not address is using his next two first-round picks to sign free agent Lamar Jackson to an offer sheet.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This is also Irsay probably just trying to create a buzz.
