Ever since the sudden retirement of Andrew Luck prior to the 2019 season the Colts have had a revolving door of quarterbacks, using a different starter in every year since.<\/p>\n
They went from Jacoby Brissett, to Phillip Rivers, to Carson Wentz, to Matt Ryan, with none of them being anything close to resembling a long-term option.\u00a0<\/p>\n
As the Colts’ season went in the tank in the second half of the 2022 season it seemed obvious that they would be positioned to hopefully choose their next franchise quarterback.\u00a0<\/p>\n
If they stay put at No. 4 that will almost certainly take them out of the Bryce Young or C.J. Stroud market as they are expected to be the top-two picks in the draft.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Anthony Richardson and Will Levis are expected to be the next group of quarterbacks off the board, while there is no real consensus on who should go first.<\/p>\n
Both have outrageous physical ability but have had limited success as starters in college.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Richardson is the wild card in the draft as he provides an unmatched combination of size and physical skills.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Carolina Panthers already traded up to the No. 1 pick in a blockbuster deal with the Chicago Bears.<\/p>\n
That means any trade up would have to involve either Houston at No. 2 or Arizona at No. 3.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Trading back could be intriguing, but that could take the quarterback choice out of their hands depending on how far back they decide to move.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The only option he did not address is using his next two first-round picks to sign free agent Lamar Jackson to an offer sheet.\u00a0<\/p>\n
This is also Irsay probably just trying to create a buzz. The most likely outcome here is they stay at the No. 4 spot and take either Richardson or Levis with that pick.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
