That was really important that it wasn\u2019t just somebody that would take a year to be in. We felt that at RCB we needed someone to hit the ground running\u201d<\/strong> Mike Hesson added.<\/p>\n

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) director of cricket operations Mike Hesson remarked that the franchise was expressly looking for a player like Faf du Plessis to lead the squad from the front. The South African cricketer was chosen because of his performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and his ability to acquire the respect of the people around him.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe wanted a player who we knew could plug and play from a performance point of view. So somebody that had a really good record in the IPL in recent years and Faf clearly had that. And also would work well with the coach and the coaching group because we wanted that inclusive style\u201d<\/strong> Mike Hesson\u00a0said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSomebody that we had a lot of good senior players Virat, Glenn Maxwell Dinesh Karthik that we were looking to either bring in or retain. So we needed to use those skills rather than just be an authoritarian-style captains. We want someone who will actually come and work with that group. And Faf du Plessis ticked all those boxes,\u201d<\/strong> Mike Hesson added.<\/p>\n
