On the same day that the Denver Nuggets punched their ticket to their first NBA Finals, one former franchise player announced that he was calling it a career.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Carmelo Anthony<\/a> last stepped foot on an NBA court last season as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers. After a year away from the game, Melo took to social media<\/a> to announce that his 19-year professional basketball career was ending. A vital part of an iconic draft class<\/a> that included LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, Anthony played for six NBA franchises over the course of his career, most notably the Nuggets and the New York Knicks. A 10-time All-Star and six-time All-NBA player, Melo was a walking bucket and retires as the ninth leading scorer in NBA history. While he did lead Syracuse to a national championship, he was never able to win a chip in the Association. Still, he is a first-ballot Hall of Famer whose No. 15 will someday hang in the rafters of Ball Arena, even if he will have to share that honor with another Denver legend<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n Which brings us to today’s quiz of the day.
