{"id":3729,"date":"2022-12-15T20:36:50","date_gmt":"2022-12-15T20:36:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sports.runfyers.com\/index.php\/2022\/12\/15\/chelsea-told-to-make-tactical-mason-mount-contract-decision-to-secure-top-transfer-target\/"},"modified":"2022-12-15T20:36:50","modified_gmt":"2022-12-15T20:36:50","slug":"chelsea-told-to-make-tactical-mason-mount-contract-decision-to-secure-top-transfer-target","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sports.runfyers.com\/index.php\/2022\/12\/15\/chelsea-told-to-make-tactical-mason-mount-contract-decision-to-secure-top-transfer-target\/","title":{"rendered":"Chelsea told to make &#8216;tactical&#8217; Mason Mount contract decision to secure top transfer target"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div><!-- Article Start --><\/p>\n<p>Chelsea have been urged to \u2018tactically\u2019 offer Mason Mount a new contract in an attempt to secure a deal for their top target.<\/p>\n<p>Mount\u2019s current deal at Stamford Bridge expires in18 months and although the Blues academy graduate wants to remain in west London, talks over an extension have hit something of an impasse.<\/p>\n<p>Todd Boehly is loathe to lose Mount, whom he reportedly sees as a future Chelsea captain, and wants to reward his consistent performances with a new and improved deal.<\/p>\n<p>But Mount is currently among the lowest earners at the club and wants a deal to reflect his importance to the team, which has <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/news\/very-strange-chelsea-situation-benefit-liverpool-land-one-of-best\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">so far not been forthcoming.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>But former Chelsea full-back <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2022\/12\/15\/glen-johnson-gives-one-key-transfer-reason-chelsea-must-keep-transfer-rebel-17942235\/?ito=newsnow-feed\" target=\"_blank\">Glen Johnson doesn\u2019t reckon Mount is worth the \u00a3300,000 per week he is reportedly after<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think he\u2019s [Mount] got to the level to demand \u00a3300,000-a-week,\u201d Johnson told <em>Metro<\/em>. \u201cObviously he\u2019s a good player and Chelsea won\u2019t want to lose him but you can\u2019t be held hostage to anyone. I can\u2019t imagine he\u2019s the sort of lad that would down tools if he doesn\u2019t get \u00a3300,000-a-week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe doesn\u2019t seem like that sort of fella.
