Postecoglou was grilled by pundit and fellow ex-Socceroos Craig Foster in the 2006 chat aired on SBS\u2019 The World Game<\/i>. At the time head coach of the Australian under-20 team that failed to qualify for the U20 World Cup, Postecoglou was even called upon to step down from his role by a passionate Foster.<\/p>\n

Postecoglou has of course gone on to put any questions about his managerial ability beyond doubt, with his official unveiling as Tottenham manager <\/a>completing a stunning ascent to the top of the game via Australia, Japan and Scotland, and leaving a trail of doubters behind.<\/p>\n

So it was almost poetic that it was Foster who was one of the first prominent voices to tell Spurs fans what they were getting in the hiring of Australia\u2019s greatest ever manager.<\/p>\n

Foster appeared on a live cross on the UK\u2019s Sky Sports News <\/i>on Tuesday night (AEDT), providing a glowing endorsement of Postecolgou\u2019s appointment for the millions of viewers.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s time for Spurs to have someone who is really committed and capable of bringing attacking football to life and that is demonstrably Ange Postecoglou.\u201d Foster said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s done it here with the Australian national team and in club football where he set records.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe has the confidence, he has the methodologies and he clearly has the experience now to take on one of your six big clubs<\/p>\n

\u201cAll I can say to Spurs fans from our perspective from here in Australia is that at each stage of his career Ange has proven his capability to manage the group at the next level.\u201d<\/p>\n

Postecoglou and Foster actually buried the hatchet over the infamous interview in a wholesome television moment on Stan Sport FC <\/a>early last year.<\/p>\n

Whatever tension had lingered between the two seemed to have evaporated as the Celtic boss lavished Foster with praise for his role as an advocate for refugees.<\/p>\n

Foster was the leading voice behind the successful campaign to release Hakeem al-Araibi, a footballer who was imprisoned in Thailand in 2018, and has more recently cast a spotlight on the 33 refugees holed up inside the Park Hotel in Melbourne.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust off the bat, Craig, great respect for what you\u2019re doing over there, mate, in terms of the last couple of years with the refugees,\u201d Postecoglou said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAn unbelievable cause, an unbelievable effort from yourself, mate. Great respect.\u201d<\/p>\n

Foster was in return grateful for Postecoglou\u2019s comments, and also complimented the fanbase of Celtic, who he believed had a \u201creally strong social justice streak.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
