Newcastle United are reportedly ready to go \u2018toe-to-toe\u2019 with Arsenal for the signing of Mykhaylo Mudryk with a battle expected in January.<\/p>\n
The winger has made a name for himself this season. After initially being linked with the Premier League in the summer, it is looking possible that he will get a transfer in January.<\/p>\n
Mudryk has shone for Shakhtar Donetsk in recent months and his performances in the Champions League caught the eye.<\/p>\n
The 21-year-old is being targeted by Arsenal ahead of January with him being their main target on the flanks.<\/p>\n
The Gunners are expected to be busy in January as the club\u2019s hierarchy are looking to give Mikel Arteta\u2019s team a better chance to sustain their push for the Premier League title.<\/p>\n
But Newcastle have also enjoyed a great start to the new campaign as they sit third in the table.<\/p>\n
Ex-Premier League boss Neil Warnock thinks the Magpies could finish in the top four<\/a><\/strong> and Football Insider<\/em> are reporting that their owners have \u2018given the green light to spend in January and at least one box-office signing is possible\u2019.<\/p>\n As part of this, they have \u2018made a move\u2019 for Mudyrk and they are \u2018prepared\u2019 to fight Arsenal for his services.<\/p>\n Newcastle have \u2018made contact\u2019 with Shakhtar to \u2018register their interest\u2019.<\/a><\/p>\n The report suggests that Mudryk \u2018would likely cost \u00a350m-plus\u2019 in January with his contract not up until 2026.<\/p>\n Shakhtar have publicly stated that they want \u00a387m for Mudryk but privately it is suggested that they would entertain bids far less than that.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n Newcastle may suffer disappointment in the race for Mudryk though as the player has openly stated that he wants to sign for Arsenal.<\/p>\n \u201cShakhtar for me is my home,\u201d Mudryk told Ben Jacobs. \u201cAll my thoughts are only about Shakhtar.<\/p>\n \u201cIn winter we [will] see.<\/p>\n \u201cI think every guy dreams about [playing in the] Premier League.<\/p>\n \u201cArsenal is a very good team. Very good coach. I like the way they play.<\/p>\n \u201cFrom my side, I can\u2019t say no [to Arsenal], but a transfer is not only my decision.\u201d<\/p>\n They spent around \u00a3120m in the summer to bring in the likes of Alexander Isak, Sven Botman and Nick Pope.<\/p>\n
