Ange Postecoglou doesn\u2019t need any advice about coaching an English Premier League club.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s the opinion of West Ham manager David Moyes, who got the better of Postecoglou in the former Socceroos coach\u2019s first match in charge of Spurs.<\/p>\n
Moyes\u2019 men beat their London rivals 3-2 in Perth on Tuesday night, but while Spurs lost, they dominated the contest playing an attacking style of football synonymous with Postecoglou-coached teams.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t need to give Ange any advice \u2013 that\u2019s for sure,\u201d said Moyes, who has also had spells in charge of Everton, Manchester United, Sunderland and Spanish club Real Sociedad.<\/p>\n
\u201cHis team played well enough that they could have easily scored more goals, and we were a bit fortunate that we didn\u2019t concede more.\u201d<\/p>\n Moyes said Postecoglou did a \u201cremarkable\u201d job at Celtic, where the ex-Brisbane Roar and Melbourne Victory coach guided the Hoops to five trophies in two seasons before his off-season move to Tottenham.<\/p>\n \u201cHow his teams played was a very good style … and I think you saw bits of that (in Perth), which probably we expected a little bit, maybe slightly different,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cAnge will be different. Ange will invert his fullbacks, he\u2019ll look to play through the lines and get his defenders on the ball.<\/p>\n \u201cI thought Tottenham were a good football team last year (under former manager Antonio Conte). I just think there\u2019ll be a different manager who\u2019ll try to get them to play slightly different.\u201d<\/p>\n While Moyes and Postecoglou embraced after the match, the Hammers\u2019 boss joked the pair were set to become \u201cbigger enemies\u201d such was the rivalry between the two clubs.<\/p>\n \u201cBut overall, he\u2019s a really good guy Ange, and hopefully we\u2019ll bump into each other a lot more often in London than we will out here in \u2018Oz\u2019,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Postecoglou, while disappointed to lose, said the result was \u201cnot the most important thing right now\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cWinning (in Perth) and not playing the kind of football we want \u2026 I\u2019d be disappointed with that\u201d he told SpursPlay.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ve work to do, we know that, no surprises there, but (I\u2019m) really encouraged with the way the boys have been working hard in training and, secondly, their endeavours to try and win the game.<\/p>\n \u201cThe main thing for me is that every player out there was trying to do what we\u2019ve been working on. That\u2019s the key for me. That gives me the encouragement to keep going and feeding more into them, and hopefully they take that on-board.\u201d<\/p>\n Postecoglou and Spurs will continue their Asia-Pacific pre-season tour with a game against Leicester City \u2013 whose squad includes Socceroos defender Harry Souttar \u2013 in Bangkok on Sunday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
