Devon Conway<\/strong> and Tom Latham<\/strong> led New Zealand\u2019s strong reply after Pakistan\u2019s 438 in their first innings on Day 2 of the ongoing first Test<\/a> at National Stadium in Karachi.<\/p>\n

Conway, who became the quickest New Zealand batter to 1000 Test runs (19 innings), and Latham formed a record highest 165-run opening partnership. Both Latham and Conway displayed utmost patience as they kept Pakistan bowlers at bay. Wicketkeeper Latham stayed unbeaten on 78 while Conway remained undefeated on 82.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Pakistan lost centurion skipper Babar Azam<\/strong> in the first over of the morning, but Agha Salman<\/strong> shined with the bat to help the hosts reach a massive total. Salman smashed his maiden Test century as the home team posted 438 in their first innings. Black Caps skipper Tim Southee<\/strong> led New Zealand\u2019s bowling with 3\/69 from 25.5 overs. Similarly, the trio of spinners Ajaz Patel, Michael Bracewell<\/strong> and Ish Sodhi<\/strong> bagged six wickets between them.<\/p>\n
