Matildas superstar Sam Kerr has thanked Aussie fans for their support but expressed her disappointment after Australia\u2019s 3-1 semi final loss to England<\/a>, lamenting her interrupted World Cup campaign.<\/p>\n

Kerr nailed one of the goals of the tournament <\/a>to level the game at one-all in the 63rd minute, but missed a shot at goal right in front later in the second half.<\/p>\n

Had she converted, Australia would have levelled the scores at two-all with just over 10 minutes to go. <\/p>\n

It wasn\u2019t to be however, with England scoring a late goal to clinch a World Cup Final date with Spain on Sunday. <\/p>\n

Kerr was heartbroken after the defeat when speaking to Channel 7, and suggested the interrupted World Cup may have played a part.<\/p>\n

\u201cReally disappointed obviously. We just fell short but yeah really proud of the girls for this whole tournament,\u201d Kerr said. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe one I missed the last little bit but I think I did everything I can to be back in this tournament and if I train more than five times this World Cup maybe I would have sunk that one.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t put all the blame on myself, I have to think of all the things the team have done and I\u2019ve done to be where we are right now and inspire the nation but yeah, it\u2019s really disappointing.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been tough. I can\u2019t remember the last time I missed three games in a row. Just had to stick with the girls and they\u2019ve done amazing and just had to focus what I could focus on and then be ready for tonight and the minutes I got over the last two games. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s been an enjoyable ride to be on, I guess regardless of the calf, it\u2019s been an amazing honour to be here.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Matildas will now take on Sweden in the third-placed match on Saturday, and Kerr said the team is keen to win that one for all Australians. <\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, the support we\u2019ve had from Aussies has been absolutely incredible, they\u2019ve pushed us over the line, they\u2019ve been at her hotel on screens, on planes, and everywhere we\u2019ve felt the love so hopefully we can go and get third for them,\u201d Kerr said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
