Spanish police have arrested three unnamed Real Madrid youth players for allegedly distributing a sexual video featuring a minor, a police spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

Officers on Friday morning detained the players, who are between the ages of 21 and 22, at Real Madrid\u2019s training grounds following a complaint filed in Spain\u2019s Canary Islands earlier this month, a Guardia Civil police spokesman said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey were detained on suspicion of distributing a video with sexual content involving a minor,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The girl\u2019s mother is said to have gone to police after one of the trio reportedly filmed a sex clip with the child.<\/p>\n

Police questioned a fourth Real Madrid youth player over the incident but it was not clear at this point if he would also be charged, the spokesman said.<\/p>\n

In a statement the club said it was aware that a player from Real Madrid\u2019s second team Castilla and three players from Real Madrid C \u2014 the Spanish club\u2019s third team \u2014 \u201chave made statements to the Guardia Civil in relation to a complaint about the alleged circulation of a private video via WhatsApp.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cWhen the club has detailed knowledge of the facts, it will take the appropriate measures,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n

Online newspaper El Confidencial<\/a>, which broke the story citing sources from the investigation, said the main target of the probe is a Real Madrid C player who allegedly recorded himself having sex with a 16-year-old.<\/p>\n

The two other players allegedly shared the video without her consent via WhatsApp, the report said.<\/p>\n

The arrests comes as Spain is embroiled in a debate over sexism sparked by the scandal involving a kiss on the lips by former Spanish football federation president Luis Rubiales on World Cup winner Jenni Hermoso.<\/p>\n

His conduct at last month\u2019s Women\u2019s World Cup final which Spain won 1-0 against England has caused widespread criticism and led to his resignation, as well as a provisional suspension by football governing body FIFA.<\/p>\n

Rubiales is due in court on Friday over the alleged unsolicited kiss.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
