With the trade window of the IPL 2024 on, there has been a massive change in terms of the coaching of the Kolkata Knight Riders. Gautam Gambhir has joined the two-time champions as a mentor for the upcoming editions of the league.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Gautam Gambhir parted ways with Lucknow Super Giants and will be seen in new attire in IPL 2024. He had a decent two years with the UP-based franchise and under him team qualified for the playoffs in both seasons. It\u2019ll be a big blow for LSG as the former Indian cricketer played a huge role in the team\u2019s development.\u00a0<\/p>\n

There were a lot of reports recently about Gautam Gambhir joining Kolkata Knight Riders for IPL 2024. However, they all have now turned out to be true. The former Indian cricket was in talks with KKR for a while and also met up with franchise owner Shahrukh Khan.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The duo had a conversation about Gautam Gambhir joining KKR at the Bollywood actor\u2019s residence in Mumbai. It was also learned that the former Kolkata Knight Riders skipper himself expressed his desire to join the team and wasn\u2019t interested in continuing with LSG.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Gautam Gambhir joining Kolkata Knight Riders will be a homecoming for him as he has been an integral part of the team. He joined KKR in 2011 and made it among the most successful franchises in the league.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Under the leadership of Gautam Gambhir, Kolkata Knight Riders became a dominating force and won titles in 2012 and 2014. His return to the team will be a massive boost for the team as since the last few editions in the league they have tumbled a bit.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Gautam Gambhir expressed his delight after joining the KKR ahead of the IPL. He said that he isn\u2019t emotional but this thing moved him. Speaking in an official release by the franchise, he stated:\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI am not an emotional person and not many things move me. But this is\u00a0different. This is back to where it all started. Today, there is a lump in my throat and fire in my heart as I think\u00a0about slipping into that purple and gold jersey once again. I am not only coming back to KKR but I am coming\u00a0back to the city of joy. I am back. I am hungry. I am number 23. Ami KKR.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
