India spinner Kuldeep Yadav, on Wednesday (March 22), showed signs of his devastating ability with the ball when he dismissed Alex Carey with a stunning delivery during the third ODI against Australia in Chennai.
Kuldeep did not have the best of outings in the first two ODIs against Australia. In the first game where India bowled out Australia for just 188, he conceded 48 runs in 8 overs and managed one wicket. In the second game where India were bowled out for just 117, he bowled one over and conceded 12 runs as Australia registered a 10-wicket win.
The left-arm spinner, however, bounced back in the third and final ODI at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. He picked up 3 crucial wickets to help India bowl all out Australia for 269 after the tourists were off to a good start. Kuldeep Yadav dismissed David Warner, Marnus Labuschagne and Carey.
And Carey’s dismissal was definitely the best of the lot. Batting on 38, Carey had his eyes set but was completely bamboozled by the turning delivery from Kuldeep Yadav. The ball pitched on the middle-leg line and turned away from the left-hander to hit the top of off-stump.
Kuldeep Yadav reveals new delivery:
Speaking after the end of the Australian innings, Kuldeep Yadav talked about Carey’s dismissal and revealed that he had been working on a new delivery. The highly-rated spinner stated that he had been working on a delivery that would pitch in the middle and leg line to the left-handers and spin away.
“I played the India A series here, so I knew the wicket was slow, so I was trying to spin the ball more. Those were important wickets and especially I loved the one against Alex Carey,” Kuldeep Yadav said.
“I have been working on it, trying to bowl within the wickets, from there if I can spin the ball, so there is a lot of chance to get caught behind, there is a chance to get top-edge on slog just like David Warner did.
“The way Marsh started, probably thought they would get close to 300 but the way Hardik bowled, he got 3 wickets and got us back in the game,” he added.
