£35,000-a-week attacker now ready to leave Birmingham; he could seal instant shock move

Birmingham City could be about to be dealt a transfer blow, with one big-money attacker now ready to ditch St. Andrew’s in favour of a shock move.

Chris Davies “looking forward” to Middlesbrough clash

After suffering a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Millwall in midweek, some may believe that the last thing Birmingham need is the visit of Middlesbrough.

Chris Davies isn’t one of those believers, however. The Blues boss revealed that he is “looking forward” to the clash and the chance to put things right following defeat last time out.

It was a tough evening against Millwall, with three quickfire goals ending Birmingham’s pursuit of victory. Speaking to reporters after the game, Davies admitted that his side did not deserve to take all three points – saying: “It was a painful defeat. As I’ve said to the players, we need to hold our hands up, we didn’t deserve to get anything from that match.

“We were well short of what’s required at a place like this in the first half. We were second to the ball, there wasn’t much in the game, but in the decisive moments we were short and it’s ending up costing us.

“It’s very disappointing because we haven’t had one of these days for the last couple of months, but hopefully a timely reminder of how challenging the league is and what you need to do every single game to be competitive home and away. From our point of view, we weren’t good enough.”

As bad as Solis: Davies must drop Birmingham City star who made just 5 passes

It was a night to forget for the Blues against Millwall.

It was arguably a reminder that the Blues still have work to do on the playoff front, especially now that they’re five points behind sixth place Wrexham in the Championship. Whether they can bridge that gap before the end of the season or are forced to turn to the transfer market is the big question.

To that end, there’s already an argument that Birmingham should ditch Jay Stansfield. But before the striker, it could be another attacker who departs.

Kyogo ready to end Birmingham nightmare

As reported by Football Insider, Kyogo Furuhashi is now ready to leave Birmingham if he cannot get back into Davies’ strongest side at St. Andrew’s. The 31-year-old has had a torrid time in the Midlands and has even been linked with a shock, mid-season switch to the MLS.

The £35,000-a-week forward would be following in the footsteps of several players who have made similar moves and perhaps even Antoine Griezmann. It would also bring to an end a failed move to the Championship after so much expectation when Kyogo arrived in Birmingham last summer.

With one goal from an XG of 5.35, there won’t be another stat which sums up Kyogo’s struggles better. He has gone from Celtic stardom to struggling in both France and England.

Once dubbed “outstanding” by former Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou, the Japan international now desperately needs a summer move just one year on from arriving in Birmingham for a hefty £10m.
