“Aaron Boone should have been fired after WS loss to Dodgers” – Yankees fans flame out after skipper’s Jazz Chisholm Jr. comments after Rays loss

Ever since taking over as the manager of the New York Yankees in December 2017, Aaron Boone has drawn criticism from large parts of the fanbase. Though his time at the helm has been relatively successful, he has failed to guide the Yankees to the World Series win they desperately crave.

After the Bronx Bombers lost 5-3 to the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday, Boone was asked by reporters for an explanation on some of his personnel decisions. The Yankees skipper did not provide the most assured of responses, and clips of the interaction quickly began circulating on X.

A Yankees content page pointed out the stark difference in explanation provided by former Yankees manager Joe Girardi and current manager Aaron Boone.

“Joe Girardi gave a much better explanation than Aaron Boone for why the Yankees didn’t pinch hit Grisham for Grichuk. Girardi: ‘Jazz was going to steal. So you pinch hit for Cabby, to give Grisham a fresh count with runners on 2nd and 3rd.’ Boone: ‘I like righties,'” the post was captioned.

Reacting, several fans left comments ripping into Boone.

“This guy should have been fired after the World Series loss to the dodgers. He is and has always been a terrible in game manager,” a fan wrote.

“Let’s remember Joe Girardi took a young team, developed them-played hard every day and was 1 game from a WS and lost to a team that cheated. He got best out of Sanchez and Judge. And they turned around and didn’t retain him. They wanted a players manager. How’s that working out?” another fan commented.

“I wish Girardi was still coaching this team. It’s a shame Gary Sanchez ran him out of town,” another fan replied.

“Girardi is a manager, Boone is a babysitter!” another fan responded.

“That is because Girardi knew the game and how to manage. Boone’s decisions come from analytic nerds,” another fan shared.

“I watched this press conference and it was a mess, Boone looked completely lost, he hasn’t a clue,” another fan posted.

Aaron Boone is set to be in the hot seat through the 2027 season

Though several fans do not appear to be too fond of Aaron Boone, the Yankees organization seems to think the former third baseman is the right man to lead the team forward.

Ahead of the 2025 season, Boone and the Yankees finalized a two-year contract extension. With his existing deal already covering 2025, Boone is now contracted with the club through 2027.
