Liverpool are now in talks to sign Oscar Mingueza, who’s set to become a free agent when his Celta Vigo contract expires at the end of the season.
Liverpool’s consistent right-back problem
Although Trent Alexander-Arnold’s absence was always likely to be felt in full, the arrival of Jeremie Frimpong alongside the development of Conor Bradley should have at least eased Liverpool’s concerns. That, however, has been anything but the case.
Bradley’s season has been over for some time now due to yet another injury, whilst Frimpong has gone from a player who rarely finds himself in the medical room to one of Liverpool’s biggest problems on that front this season.
Neither have claimed the right-back spot to replace Alexander-Arnold. So much so that it’s Dominik Szoboszlai who has looked the most convincing in that position, despite his usual midfield role.

It’s a problem that Liverpool need to address this summer alongside finding a replacement for two legends in Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson.
The duo have both announced their exits recently, which will take place at the end of the season. It represents how quickly a golden era is beginning to come to a conclusion at Anfield.
Fabrizio Romano reveals major Arne Slot meeting with Liverpool owners
The Dutchman is under huge pressure at Anfield.
If last summer was deemed big, the next window may need to be even bigger. Reports have already name-dropped the likes of Castello Lukeba and the French defender could be joined by Mingueza in the coming months.
Liverpool offered chance to sign Mingueza
As reported by TeamTalk, Liverpool have now been offered the chance to sign Mingueza on a free transfer this summer. Intermediaries have approached the Reds, opening talks over a deal, as well as the defender’s former club, Barcelona.
The Spaniard certainly has a big decision to make this summer and that decision will reportedly centre around potential game time – something that Liverpool could offer.
With the right-back spot up for grabs, the La Masia graduate could quickly turn into the ultimate bargain if those at Anfield push on and land his signature.
With six assists to his name this season and the ability to strike from range, according to Como scout Ben Mattinson, Mingueza could be the Alexander-Arnold replacement that Arne Slot still so desperately needs.
Alas, the ball is still in the defender’s court. He won’t be short on potential suitors when the summer transfer window swings open and it remains to be seen whether Liverpool can lure him to Anfield instead of his former club in Spain.
